100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — The South Cariboo Hospital Foundation celebrated its Seventh Annual ‘Starry Nights’ campaign to raise money for medical equipment at the 100 Mile House and District Hospital.

A big turnout in 100 Mile House as the community, along with special guests from the North Pole, came out to see the hospital light display.

Every donation to the foundation lights up a star.

Funds this year are designated for a new cystoscope and medical cart to support the hospital’s urology outreach program with support from Kamloops specialists.

“We have three urologists come up from Kamloops. They come up seven months out of the year, once a week,” said South Cariboo Health Foundation President Chris Nickless. “By having a urology lab in 100 Mile, it saves people coming all the way from Bella Coola even Dawson Creek, saves them having to go to Kamloops. They can come here and go back in the same day.”

The Starry Nights campaign goal this year is $21,000. The foundation’s work has ensured the viability of the 100 Mile House and District Hospital.

“By donating to the health foundation, that keeps your money here and in our hospital,” said Nickless.

You may support the South Cariboo Health Foundation and become a Health Star with a $50 donation. The campaign extends into January.
