KAMLOOPS – Environment Canada has issued weather warnings for much of the B.C. Interior Monday (Nov. 11), including the 100 Mile, Chilcotin and Cariboo regions.

In addition, special weather statements are in effect for the South Thompson, Fraser Canyon and Nicola regions, among others.

The national forecaster warns of freezing rain and ice pellets descending on the Interior starting this afternoon and continuing overnight. The forecast then calls for the freezing rain to switch to rain showers some time Tuesday.

The warning alerts the public that surfaces such as highways, streets and sidewalks will become slippery as the freezing rain falls. Residents are advised to take extra care while walking or driving.
