KAMLOOPS — Six companies have applied to B.C.’s Passenger Transportation Board (PTB) to offer ride-hailing services in the province to date — but only four could potentially serve the Kamloops area.

Companies have until September 23 to apply for ride-hailing licenses. The PTB has split the province into five zones, and companies can apply to serve any or all of them.

According to the PTB, the best-known ride-hailing companies, UBER and Lyft, have only applied to offer services in the Lower Mainland.

Only one company, Vancouver-based Kater, has applied to offer services in all five zones in B.C.
