LOGAN LAKE, B.C. — A boil water advisory for the District of Logan Lake will remain in place at least through the end of the week.

The district’s water system has been under the advisory since Saturday, when Interior Health flagged high bacteria levels. CAO Randy Lambright says the bacteria is not e. coli.

Lambright says district has been flushing its system, and hopes to have a positive result by Friday.

“We have been disinfecting the system using chlorine. It’s not the ground water itself; it’s in the delivery system somewhere. We’ve yet to determine what that is. We suspect it’s as a result of maintenance in specific locations in the community.”

Residents are advised to bring their water to a rolling boil for at least three minutes before consuming it.

Lambright says it’s difficult to isolate the source of the bacteria, but the district hopes the measures being taken will take care of the problem.

“In terms of tracking down the actual source or the location of it, it may have taken care of itself simply because we have been flushing the system and we have been chlorinating system rather regularly. If it doesn’t show up again in subsequent tests, we’re good.”
