Kamloops skater excels at international event in Germany

KAMLOOPS — A skater from the Kamloops Long Blades did well at an international speed skating event in Germany this weekend.

Sylvie Lloyd has been training in the Netherlands since January, and decided to make the short trip to Oberstdorf, Germany for an international training camp and short track competition involving 175 skaters from around the world.

Lloyd finished fourth in the 500 metres and fifth in the 1000 metres and with the combined results placed fourth overall.

This weekends result has qualified Lloyd to race on Europe’s International Star Class Short Track Circuit.
