CACHE CREEK — UPDATE —  Traffic has been fully restored on highway 97 north of Cache Creek to Clinton, after a pair of mudslides late last week. But speed limits are reduced, and there are work zones in effect as crews continue to clean up the area. Two slides within a day closed the road and forced travellers to detour around the site. Meanwhile, traffic has been reduced to single lane traffic on highway 99 15 kilometers north of Lillooet following a mudslide. There’s single lane alternating traffic, and a 50 percent legal load limit for commercial trucks on some stretches of that road.

EARLIER — A traffic nightmare is unfolding on Highway 97 just north of Cache Creek.

According to Drive BC, there’s been another mudslide today, forcing the closure of the highway in both directions two kilometres south of the Highway 99 junction.

Alternate routes are available via Highway 1, Highway 5 and Highway 24.
