MATT DAMON AND CHRISTIAN BALE-LED FILM LANDS BIG SUMMER RELEASE DATE: Fox is issuing release date news. An as-yet-untitled film starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon, about a team of engineers and designers that Henry Ford II nabbed to build a car that would vanquish the one created by rising racecar company Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans World Championship, is set to open June 28th, 2019. Stuber, a comedy about an Uber driver who gets pulled into a cop’s investigation for a killer has been dated for Mary 24th, 2019. Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista star.
HOW IT ENDS TRAILER DROPS: Forest Whitaker is trying to save his endangered and pregnant daughter from a cataclysmic, possibly alien event in How It Ends. Adding to the drama: Whitaker’s character hates his son-in-law. The streamer shared the apocalyptic trailer Friday. The film drops July 13th.
NETFLIX FIRES COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR OVER N-WORD: Netflix‘s long-time communications honcho used the n-word in a meeting, causing outrage, and ultimately resulting in his firing. Jonathan Friendland tried to get ahead of the story on Twitter, announcing his exit and blaming it on “insensitive” language. “I’m leaving Netflix after seven years,” Friedland wrote. “Leaders have to be beyond reproach in the example we set and unfortunately I fell short of that standard when I was insensitive in speaking to my team about words that offend in comedy.”
IS CHILD’S PLAY HEADED TO TV? American horror slasher classic Child’s Play may be coming to TV. The series creator Don Mancini teased the project on Twitter, writing “Do not adjust your set.” The film series launched in 1988 and stars Chucky, a demonic doll. The most recent installation in the series was 2017’s Cult of Chucky. No word on casting, dates or networks.
