Foerster gets 17 years minimum

VERNON — Matthew Foerster has been sentenced to at least 17 years in prison for the murder of Taylor Van Diest.

That was the recommendation of crown and defence lawyers during Foerster’s sentencing hearing in Vernon yesterday.

Foerster had agreed to plead guilty to 2nd degree murder in the teenager’s murder on Halloween night in 2011.

He showed no emotion this morning as a BC Supreme Court Judge announced the sentence.
