SELENA GOMEZ STARS IN ‘PUMA’S NEW DEFY CAMPAIGN: Selena Gomez is the inspiration behind a new Puma sneaker. The 25-year-old, who has designed a shoe with the brand before, is the star of Puma’s Defy campaign. The new sneaker “defies” training standards and wants to be the ultimate inspiration for daring women. “To defy is to be brave. It’s about pushing the envelope and not obeying any ‘expectations’ placed on you by society. Puma has captured this feeling perfectly with their new Defy training shoe. I remind myself daily the importance of defying the outside noise and being true to myself,” Selena explained. Selena’s new shoe is available now.
HAILEE STEINFELD TO STAR IN TV SERIES ABOUT EMILY DICKINSON: Hailee Steinfeld is getting literary. The singer/actress will star as real-life 19th-century poet Emily Dickinson in a new Apple series called Dickinson. The show will be a comedic coming-of-age story told from Emily’s point of view, which shows the budding writer trying to break free from the societal constraints of her time. Dickinson is Hailee’s first regular role on a TV series. She was previously nominated for an Oscar at 14-years-old for her performance in the 2010 remake of True Grit. She’s also appeared in the Pitch Perfect franchise, as well as the films The Edge of Seventeen and Ender’s Game. No word yet on when the half-hour series will debut.
CHARLI XCX DEBUTS ‘5 IN THE MORNING’: Charli XCX has unleashed her new track “5 In The Morning.” Charli originally debuted the song live while opening for Taylor Swift on the Reputation World Tour in Glendale, Arizona. The track was produced by The Invisible Men, who also produced her smash hit “Fancy” with Iggy Azalea.
MAROON 5 DEBUT ‘GIRLS LIKE YOU’ FT. CARDI B: Maroon 5 and Cardi B teamed up for a remix of “Girls Like You.” The track was originally featured on Maroon 5’s 2017 studio album Red Pill Blues, and now features a brand new verse from the “Bodak Yellow” rapper. “I’m sure them other girls were nice enough, but you need someone to spice it up / So who you gonna call? Cardi,” she raps. The video features an assortment of women being summoned to dance behind Adam Levine as he sings about girls like them. Also appearing in the video are Phoebe Robinson, Gal Gadot, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Silverman, Tiffany Haddish, Chloe Kim, Millie Bobby Brown, Lilly Singh, Camila Cabello, Aly Raisman, Mary J. Blidge and Ellen DeGeneres just to name a few.
