Wildfire ignites northwest of Merritt

MERRITT, B.C. — A new wildfire has been ignited north of Merritt.

According to a social media message from the B.C. Wildfire Service, the fire is located along the Chataway Lake Forest Service Road, about 27 kilometres northwest of Merritt.

The fire is estimated at eight hectares in size.

A photo posted by the Wildfire Service shows the fire is surrounded by roadways, and no structures are threatened.
