COURT RULES THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE WILL SCREEN IN CANNES: A Paris court has ruled that Terry Gilliam‘s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote will screen at the Cannes Film Festival on May 19th. The film has been decades in the making and hit a roadblock as Paulo Branco and his Alfama Films tried to prevent it from screening at Cannes. Distributor Ocean Films tweeted in victory after the ruling: “The Cannes Film Festival breaks the spell. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote enters the history of cinema. In all rooms on May 19, 2018.” The dispute stemms from rights over the project. Gilliam ousted Alfana Films after their promised budget allegedly never materialized. There are still questions to be resolved over the film’s release in theaters but Gilliam and his team see this as a first step toward eventual victory. The film features Adam Driver, Jonathan Pryce, Stellan Skarsgrd and Olga Kurylenko.(Deadline– Click our Twitter or Facebook buttons to share this link!)FX & HULU PARTNER ON NYT DOCUSERIES: FX is teaming up with Hulu for The New York Times‘ program The Weekly.
