KAMLOOPS — A man accused of setting two garbage cans on fire has been arrested by Kamloops RCMP.

The first incident occurred at 11:00 p.m. Monday night when the suspect allegedly set fire to a garbage can at the Thompson Rivers University bus loop on University Drive.

The second incident occurred Tuesday night at 3:00 a.m. when a garbage can was torched on Regent Crescent.

“Through neighbourhood enquiries, Kamloops RCMP were able to identify a suspect,” says Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. “A 24 year old male was located and arrested without incident. He was released with a future court date. The suspect is from Kamloops and was previously known to police.”

She says police are investigating whether or not the accused is connected to another fire this week on Monmouth Drive where a plastic shed was set on fire. For more on that fire click here.
