Special weather statement issued for Merritt

MERRITT — It’s not the news people in the Merritt area wanted to hear.

With flooding already causing headaches in the region, Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement with 10 to 15 millimetres of rain expected starting after midnight tonight.

The national forecaster says this could “overwhelm some watersheds already at capacity.”

Of particular concern to people in the area is Nicola Lake, which reached full pool Monday.
