SNL RECRUITS STAR-STUDDED CAST FOR COLD OPEN: Ben Stiller, Martin Short, Jimmy Fallon, Scarlett Johansson, Alec Baldwin and Stormy Daniels herself appeared in Saturday Night Live‘s cold open as the sketch show begins the final lap of its 43rdseason. The open tackled much of the news in the past week, and launched with a black screen featuring lettering reminiscent of Law & Order‘s intro. It read: “The following is based on real events.” Stiller appeared as President Donald Trump‘s attorney Michael Cohen, Baldwin played Trump, Johansson played Ivanka Trump, Fallon played her husband Jared Kushner. FILMMAKER CARLOS CARVALHO DIES ON-SET IN SOUTH AFRICA: The award-winning filmmaker Carlos Carvalho died when a giraffe attacked him while he filmed it at a game lodge in South Africa. Carvalho was working on a series about a British family who ran a game lodge. According to reports, while getting a close-up of a giraffe named Gerald, the animal became inquisitive and head-butted him, which sent him flying into the air. He died Wednesday from massive injuries. Carvalho received the Silver Lion at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 and was honored in 2014 with an African Movie Academy Cinematography Award.

ROMAN POLANSKI TO FIGHT ACADEMY OUSTER: Roman Polanski fled the U.S. in 1978 over the rape of a minor. Last week, he and fellow disgraced Academy-member Bill Cosby were kicked out of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Polanski’s lawyer says that the Academy violated its Standards of Conduct in removing him. “Roman was just mailed the letter which on its face violates Rule 5b of their own rules,” Harland Braun told Deadline. “We plan to ask the Academy to follow its own rules which is to give Roman 10 days’ notice to present his side.” He continued: “We had ready over 300 pages of documents, two documentaries, and Samantha Geimer would have met with them,” referring to the victim herself speaking on his behalf as she has in the past.

REPORT: GRAND JURY WEIGHING CRIMINAL CHARGES AGAINST HARVEY WEINSTEIN: A grand jury in New York City is weighing sex assault charges against disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, Page Six reports. Subpoenas have been issued via the Manhattan D.A., compelling them to testify or submit documents. The 66-year-old is under investigation in L.A. and London as well after being accused of sexual misconduct, including rape, by dozens of women.

COLTON HAYNES AND JEFF LEATHAM CALL IT QUITS: Arrow star Colton Haynes and Jeff Leatham have split after six months of marriage, TMZ reports. The 29-year-old Haynes and 46-year-old celebrity floral designer married in Palm Springs in October. Kris Jenner officiated.

CAITLYN JENNER TO GIVE LECTURE ON DIVERSITY TO U.K. PARLIAMENT: I Am Cait star Caitlyn Jenner will address the British government as part of an annual diversity lecture. The transgender activist follows in the footsteps of The Wire star Idris Elba and The Night Of star Riz Ahmed, who previously spoke in the series. The lecture will take place on May 9thin the Churchill Room at the House of Commons.
