This is one Kardashian kollaboration no one saw koming. Reality star Kourtney Kardashian hit Washington D.C. this week to lobby Congress … for cosmetics reform.
She is teaming up with the Environmental Working Group on an initiative to ensure cosmetics are safe for people and the environment.
- Kardashian has plenty of fans in D.C. According to reports, chief among her allies is Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D, N.J.), someone who has previously called for updated legislation regarding beauty products, calling current laws “unacceptable” and urging companies to make products that “are safe for the American people.”
- The 39-year-old came with a camera crew from Keeping Up With the Kardashians in tow. She also just announced a cosmetics collaboration with her sister Kylie Jenner, and has previously discussed her passion for ensuring all cosmetics manufactured by her family (Khloe and Kim also have lines) are safe. As she addressed Congress, she mentioned Kylie Cosmetics, saying that her sister’s company avoids toxic chemicals.
- However, one reporter complained that she sidestepped specific questions about the sourcing of ingredients for the line.
- Previously she told Cricket’s Circle: “I make sure that our products for Kardashian Beauty are made of non-toxic ingredients – our list of banned substances is longer than the list at Whole Foods, which makes me feel really proud.”
- Kardashian has long advocated all-natural products and diets, and in 2013 shocked then-partner Scott Disick by refusing to wear deodorant.
- On KUWTK, he complained bluntly: “she reeks.”
