KAMLOOPS — An athlete from the Kamloops Track and Field Club has put up some big results over tough U.S. competition at meets in the Pacific Northwest over the last two weeks.

Two weeks ago 17-year old Jacob Taylor, a javelin thrower, won a high school meet in Bellingham, that featured over 3000 athletes.

Last weekend Taylor, who is coached by Olympic medal winner Dylan Armstrong, medalled in three more meets in Washington State.

Winning the 4A Tumwater High School meet with a top throw of 49.95 metres out of 50 javelin throwers.

The next day Taylor won gold and silver at the Tacoma Invitational — his gold medal throw of 51.82 metres was a personal best.

Taylor wrapped up the weekend at the Terrace Invitational in Edmonds, Washington with a toss of 50.75 for second place.

17-year old Taylor is a student at Valleyview Secondary.

Greg Stewart from Kamloops, training towards a shot at the 2020 paralympics, recently broke the Canadian para-athlete shot put record.

Stewart, who is also coached by Dylan Armstrong, had a throw of 14.91 metres to break the previous Canadian mark of 14.58.
