Mueller says Kamloops RCMP detachment is ‘well-positioned’ for new superintendent

KAMLOOPS — Days after we learned Supt. Brad Mueller will be leaving his role heading up the Kamloops detachment, he attended what is likely his final police committee meeting on Monday.

Mueller thanked everyone for their partnerships with the Kamloops RCMP during his four years as superintendent. Mueller says it wasn’t an easy decision to leave Kamloops, but he feels his time as the commander of the detachment has been a success.

“From a service delivery standpoint, I just look at our community engagement, the inroads we’ve made with the number of partnerships we’ve forged,” said Mueller. “I look at some of the innovative strategies that have come out of the creation of our criminal intelligence unit, the Comstat model.”

Mueller has accepted a new position as criminal operations officer for the RCMP in Alberta, based in Edmonton. He will stay in Kamloops until the new superintendent arrives in the spring. Mueller says he is leaving the detachment in good shape moving forward.

“I think the detachment, in the four years I’ve been here, has come far in terms of service delivery and the things that we’ve accomplished, so I think it’s well-positioned moving forward,” he noted. “It was time to move on. The next person coming in will take that and continue to advance it.”
