Kamloops Venom kick off provincials with a loss
VERNON, B.C. — The Kamloops Venom fell 13-5 to the Coquitlam Adanacs on Friday in Game 1 of the Provincial Tournament in Vernon.
Coquitlam lead 3-1 after 1, and 7-5 Adanacs after 2. Kamloops trailed 6-2 midway through the middle period. Riley Peterson scored twice for the Venom. Anthony Matusiak short-handed, Monty Chisolm, and Nolan Virgo each scored once.
Coquitlam outshot Kamloops 45-22 total, 17-7 in the first period, 15-10 Adanacs in the second, and 13-5 Coquitlam in the third. Matt Hans started and took the loss in goal for the Venom.
Kamloops registered 35 minutes in penalties as the Adanacs broke the game open in the third. Tyler Seabrooke was ejected after five minor penalties. And head coach Doug Clark received a game misconduct, and Clark will sit out Game 2.
