Police search for unsuccessful ATM thieves

KAMLOOPS — For the second time in two weeks, Kamloops RCMP are looking for a gang of thieves who targeted a stand-alone ATM at a business.

Corporal Jodi Shelkie says the latest incident happened very early this morning at the Petro Canada gas station in Rayleigh.

Shelkie says surveillance video shows two or three suspects arriving at the store in a dark-coloured SUV, but their attempt was not successful.

“Two of the suspects broke a window, and entered the store and attempted to remove the cash machine. When they failed to remove the cash portion of the ATM, the suspects got back into their vehicle and fled the scene,” said Shelkie.

Shelkie says the suspect description is very similar to the September 19th incident when a pair of men took the ATM from the BC Wildlife Park.

Anyone with information on either crime is asked to call Kamloops RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
