Some Kamloops Councillors defending Cavers’ actions

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops City Councillors are defending their colleague Donovan Cavers after Cavers was criticized by the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce for publicly raising environmental concerns about the proposed Kinder Morgan pipeline.

Councillors like Tina Lange and Arjun Singh have shown their support for Cavers, arguing outside of City Hall, Councillors have the right to express their opinions freely.

“I’ve been on Council since 2005, on and off, and we’ve always had the opportunity to talk as individuals, individual Councillors,” says Singh. “There’s no caucus or party discipline on Council, and that’s something I really value and want to promote. I think it’s important people in the community understand that’s how Council works.”
