Kamloops Blazers host weekend charity events
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers hosted their annual Food Bank and Teddy Bear Toss nights over the weekend.
The ice was overwhelmed with stuffed toys during Saturday’s game against the Medicine Hat Tigers. The Blazers scored their first goal of the game, in the first period and fans jumped to their feet throwing thousands of teddy bears and hundreds of winter clothing items over the glass onto the ice.
“It was outstanding, with us collecting over 2,200 teddy bears and just shy of 700 winter items, scarves, toques, mittens, very positive from the night. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to win, but with those types of games and events that we host, there’s always a positive feeling that’s brought out through the community.” said Dave Chyzowski, the Kamloops Blazers Director of Sales and Marketing.
