KATHARINE MCPHEE TAKES FANS INSIDE HER ‘WAITRESS’ VOICE LESSONS: Katharine McPhee is excited for her Broadway debut in Waitress. The 33-year-old actress and singer will be playing the role of Jenna in Waitress, which was most recently played by the show’s composer Sara Bareilles. Katharine starts performances on April 10th and she’ll only be in the show for two months. In the videos she posted to Instagram, Katharine sings “She Used to Be Mine” and “What Baking Can Do” during her voice lessons with Michael Orland and Christina Saffran.

CAMILA CABELLO TAPS BAZZI AS OPENING ACT FOR ‘NEVER BE THE SAME TOUR’: While Camila Cabello opening for Taylor Swift on her Reputation tour, she’s just announced the opening act for her own Never Be the Same Tour. Rising star Bazzi will be Camila’s special guest on her tour, which kicks off April 9th in Vancouver, British Columbia. Bazzi’s hit “Mine” has gone gold and racked up more than 130 million streams. Taylor Swift even included “Mine,” which has inspired a popular meme, on her most recent “Songs Taylor Loves” playlist. Bazzi’s debut album, which will include his recently-released tracks “Why” and “Gone,” is due out this spring. Camila’s tour with Bazzi will wrap up May 4th in New York City.

MEGHAN TRAINOR SAYS HER WEDDING IS ‘IN THE SCHEDULE’: Meghan Trainor and her fianc Daryl Sabara got engaged in December, but the couple hasn’t started planning their wedding yet..because she’s a little busy. Meghan is gearing up to release her third album, followed by a world tour. But she says that she’s in no hurry to tie the knot, and besides, she knows that it’ll eventually happen. “I’m enjoying being engaged so much. And my manager said, ‘It’s in the schedule!’ So a wedding is in the schedule, I guess!” she said. Meghan is particularly excited to release her new album because Daryl, formerly of Spy Kids fame, is actually featured on it. “He’s singing on every song. He was with me every day in the studio, just loving on me and being so cute,” she said. “I had to slow down on the love songs because it was just easy for me.” She laughs, “I’m so in love [that] my dad started yelling at me, like, ‘There’s too many love songs! The album’s not about Daryl!’ I was like, ‘But I’m happy and in a really good place now!’”

ED SHEERAN, SHAWN MENDES, BRUNO MARS UP FOR AUSTRALIAN SONGWRITING AWARDS: Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and Shawn Mendes are from three different countries, none of which is Australia. But the British, American and Canadian singers, respectively, are all up for a prestigious Aussie songwriting award. The APRA Awards, given out by the Australian Performing Rights Association, recognizes songwriting achievements on the Australian charts in the past year. Ed, Bruno and Shawn are all nominated in the International Work of the Year category; Bruno for “24K Magic,” Ed for both “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill,” and Shawn for “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.” The final nominees in the International category are the Chainsmokers and Coldplay, for “Something Just Like This.” Meanwhile, “Riptide” singer Vance Joy, who is an Aussie, is nominated for Pop Work of the Year for his single “Lay It On Me.” The ARPA Awards will be handed out April 10th in Sydney, Australia.

JOHN LEGEND, SARA BAREILLES, ALICE COOPER STAR IN ‘JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR’ TRAILER: Sara Bareilles, Alice Cooper and John Legend star in a new trailer for the live TV special Jesus Christ Superstar, set to air on NBC Easter Sunday (April 1st). The clip reveals Bareilles as Mary Magdalene, Cooper as King Herod, and Legend in the title role. “Superstar,” the most famous and recognizable song from the classic Andrew Lloyd Weber/Tim Rice musical, serves as the soundtrack for the trailer.
