Williams Lake evacuation order partially lifted, alert still in place

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Residents in the Lake City have been given the all clear to return home after being forced out on Saturday, July 15th.

The city still remains on evacuation alert.

Both the south and north routes into Williams Lake along Highway 97 are open.

Horgan travels to Washington, D.C., to talk softwood with Trump trade reps

VICTORIA — Premier John Horgan is in Washington D.C. for two days of meetings with Trump administration’s top trade officials, where he intends to press to resolve the softwood lumber trade dispute between Canada and the United States.

West Fraser Timber Co. to buy U.S. lumber business for US$430 million

VANCOUVER — Canadian forestry company West Fraser Timber Co. says it has agreed to buy a U.S. lumber business for about US$430 million.

B.C.-based West Fraser says it will acquire the operations of the Gilman Companies from the Howard Gilman Foundation and other shareholders.
