SQUAMISH — New information this morning is backtracking a bit on whether or not two people died  following a two vehicle crash on the Sea to Sky highway north of Squamish last night.

Police say eight people were in the two vehicles involved in the crash, which occurred at the Cheekye River Bridge.

Several of them were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The vehicles are believed to be a van and a pickup. The van, according to witnesses, was badly damaged and lying in the ditch. One witness said it appeared to be a head on crash.

The highway was closed for a time but has since been reopened.

Initial news stories from the scene indicated two people had died, now reports are referring to the crash as a crash with a ``possible`` fatality.
