ABBOTSFORD —  A large crowd gathered in the rain in Abbotsford last night to honour Constable John Davidson, one week after he was fatally shot while responding to a call in that Fraser Valley city.

Those attending the candlelight vigil remembered Davidson as an outstanding officer.

Sergeant Judy Bird spoke for Abbotsford police, saying the community support is helping officers get through a “dark time.”

A regimental funeral will be held for Davidson in Abbotsford on Sunday afternoon and representatives from police detachments as far away as the United Kingdom are expected to attend.
