KAMLOOPS — Police aren't saying much so far, but a crash on Highway 5A north of Merritt has shut the highway down until close to noon.

The fiery crash happened about 27 kilometers north of Merritt, and Drive B.C. says the road won't likely open until at least 11:00 AM.

Detour around the site by taking Highway 5, the Coquihalla Highway, from Merritt to Kamloops.

Police haven't released any further details on the accident at this point.

A semi apparently left the road about 1:00 AM this morning.

Drive B.C. indicated earlier that the crash may have resulted in a fire spreading into the nearby area. But that mention is no longer on the Drive B.C. web site.
