Deadly two-vehicle crash closes Highway 97

KAMLOOPS — Tragedy on Highway 97 today.

Global News Okanagan is reporting a serious crash has claimed the lives of two people near Falkland.

BC RCMP Traffic Services Cst. Melissa Wutke says it's the result of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97, northwest of Madeline Lake Road  earlier this morning.

According to Global News, the crash claimed the lives of both drivers.  Wutke says Vernon North Okanagan police continue to investigate the crash. In the meantime, Highway 97 is currently closed in both directions 15 kilometres south of Falkland. 

Wutke adds a detour is available at Round Lake Road. Motorists can expect delays and are asked to consider alternate routes on Highway 97A or Highway 1.
