KAMLOOPS — The province has upped the drought rating for the North and South Thompson regions to Level 3.

All water users in those watersheds are asked to cut their water consumption by 30 per cent.

That includes residents, industry, farmers and municipalities.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development says while some streams have healthy flows for returning salmon, others are dangerously low.

Specifically, the ministry mentions Bessette Creek in the South Thompson basin and Lemieux Creek in the North Thompson as being quite low.

Last week, City of Kamloops staff told CFJC Today water use in Kamloops was not a concern.
