KELOWNA — RCMP in Kelowna believe they have recovered the body of a Kamloops man who went missing while boating with friends on Okanagan Lake.

The man went missing Saturday evening.

The group had stopped for a swim between Gyro Park and Kinsmen Park in Kelowna, and when they returned to the boat, the 23 year old Kamloops man was gone.

At about 7:00 this morning, RCMP were told that a body had been spotted in a shallow area of the lake, about 400 metres off of Maude Roxby Wetland.

West Kelowna RCMP and the Kelowna Fire Department were able to bring the body to dry land.

While a positive identity has not been made, authorities believe the body belongs to the missing man.
