KAMLOOPS — The Emergency Social Services (ESS) Reception Centre for evacuees coming to Kamloops is on the move once again.

As of Saturday evening, the centre will be located at Sandman Centre on Lorne Street.

Officials say that will better coordinate with the hundreds of new cots set up inside the arena.

According to a release, nearly 500 cots are set up in Sandman Centre, and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District is looking to expand capacity by another 200 beds.

Due to the limited number, evacuees are urged to set up their own accommodation if they can.

Those wishing to open their doors to evacuees are asked to coordinate through the TNRD Donations and Lodging Facebook page.

Earlier this week, the ESS reception centre moved from McArthur Island in Kamloops to Thompson Rivers University.

Evacuees urged to hold off on ESS renewals unless it expires today
