CLEARWATER — The village of Clearwater has been put on evacuation alert due to the Little Fort fires.

Mayor John Hardwood issued the alert at around 1p.m Saturday.

According to the Kamloops Fire Centre, a cluster of wildfires in the Little Fort area have grown to two-thousand hectares.

Harwood says the fires began creeping up to the community last night.

Stronger gusts of wind today have resulted in the fire now approximetly five kilometres away from the community.

“We haven’t discussed an evacuation order yet, said Harwood. “Residents should just be prepared to evacuate the residence, gather their items that they’re going to need and things like that. We’re looking at dealing with the patients at the hospital and senior centre if an evacuation is ordered.”

Residents are encouraged to check the TNRD website often for an update on evacutions and alerts.
