KAMLOOPS — A bit of encouragement from the front lines in the BC wildfire fight today.

And it's good news for residents of Williams Lake who are on edge with the evacuation alert that is still in effect for that community.

For the first time, wildfire crews are reporting some level of containment on wildfires raging in the Cariboo.

The BC Wildfire Service is now reporting the 150 Mile House fire south of Williams Lake is 50 per cent contained.

As well, the Spokin Lake fire east of the community is at 75 per cent containment.

And the Wildwood fire just north of Williams Lake is 40 per cent contained.

Further to the south, the Gustafsen fire, just west of 100 Mile House is 15 per cent contained at this hour.

More wind expected to fan flames of fires threatening B.C. communities
