High water forces Kamloops boat launches to close

KAMLOOPS — The high water levels have led the City of Kamloops to close boat launches at three locations.

The facilities at Pioneer Park, McArthur Island and Thompson Drive are all closed until further notice.

As well, the city is recommending against boating in the Thompson Rivers for now, due to the debris and the potential for bank erosion.

The city notes high water may also prevent boats from being able to safely pass beneath the rail bridge over the South Thompson.
