KAMLOOPS — Plans are in place to increase pedestrian traffic in downtown Kamloops.

Mike O’Reilly, President of the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association says one of the key factors in increasing downtown demand is increased awareness.

“Something we have been working on for a while is trying to get some wayfinding signs to get people to know where downtown is,” said ‘O’Reilly.” You come in and go to the Tournament Capital Centre but people don’t know where the downtown core is so it’s about getting people to know about where we are and what we are.”

O’Reilly says some downtown businesses have agreed to stay open later in an effort to cater to tourists as well cash in on the high-traffic spring and summer months
