KAMLOOPS, B.C. — The Tournament Capital Centre is about to get a floor upgrade, with improvements to the volleyball and basketball courts.

Earlier this week, City Council approved to replace the center’s plastic flooring with hardwood floors.

The project is expected to cost $330-thousand and will take place the same time a new track is being installed.

Capital Projects Manager Darren Crundwell says the first phase of the project is scheduled to begin Friday night.

“The first phase is the removal of some of the flooring in the north court area where we’re putting the hardwood court down,” said Crundwell. “There’s some concrete demolition and other work as well. We’re going to do it at night so we don’t disrupt the facility too much. We’re expecting a two to three week period for the work.”

Crundwell says the track and courts will completely closed to the public as of the end of May until September due to construction.

Once completed, the new floor will allow the TCC to hold sanctioned sporting events
