More than 400 drivers ticketed over 4 days in Kamloops

Kamloops RCMP say a traffic blitz last week yielded no fewer than 452 speeding tickets.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says officers conducted road safety operations last Monday to Thursday, then had Alexa’s Bus out on Friday and Saturday.

Shelkie says the 591 violations and officer contacts with motorists are about what can be expected for an operation of that length.

“Unfortunately, it compares to previous years when we have done these types of blitzes. It would be nice if the numbers were going down. This is typical for a spring weekend.”

Shelkie adds all the statutes being enforced are in place to protect the public.

“Our traffic members aren’t out there to ruin someone’s day. They are out there because they want to keep the roads safe for all of the other people who are out there obeying the rules.”
