SUN PEAKS, B.C. — Children living in the Sun Peaks area will get a chance to stay close to home for school a little longer.

According to a report coming to the Kamloops-Thompson School District Board of Education Monday, the district has approved adding Grade 7 to Sun Peaks Elementary School.

The report says enrollment has increased from 39 when the school opened in 2012, to 73 this month.

A recent survey of parents garnered 95 per cent approval for adding Grade 7 to the K-6 school.

The Resort Municipality of Sun Peaks has agreed to provide a portable classroom to accommodate the expanded class size.
