Heat drop opener in KIJHL final

KAMLOOPS — The Beaver Valley Nitehawks defeated the Chase Heat 6-3 in the first game of the best of five Kootenay Junior Hockey League final.

Beaver Valley took a 1-0 lead in the first and outscored the Heat 4-2 in the second.

Travis Beaubien, Zach Fournier and Josh Bourne scored the Chase goals, with Nic Bruyere stopping 30 of 35 shots in the Heat net.

Game two is tonight in Fruitvale, a West Kootenay town just east of Trail.
