Blazers down Winterhawks 4-3 in OT

KAMLOOPS — Lane Bauer scored the lone goal of the shootout as the Blazers went on to a 4-3 win over the Portland Winterhawks at home on Friday night. 

The Blazers opened the scoring 1:21 into the game. Garrett Pilon potted a rebound off a shot from Luke Zazula to make it 1-0 for the Blazers. 

Nic Holowko made it 2-0 midway through the first period. He scored off the rush on a rebound off a Dallas Valentine shot. 

The Winterhawks came on in the second period as they scored two quick goals to tie the game. Keoni Texeira scored on a rebound and Joachim Blichfeld tallied a power play goal on a one-timer to make it 2-2. 

The Blazers took the lead back 20 seconds after the Winterhawks tied it. Rudolfs Balcers took a nice pass from Garrett Pilon for his 25th goal of the season. 

Colton Veloso tied the game early in the third period. He ripped a shot past the glove of goaltender Connor Ingram to make it 3-3. 

The game went to a shootout and Lane Bauer was the lone goal scorer as the Blazers went on to a 4-3 victory. 

With the win, the Blazers improved to 28-16-1-2 on the season. The Blazers were 1-for-5 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill. The Winterhawks outshot the Blazers 36-33. 

The Blazers play at home Saturday night as they host the Prince George Cougars. Game time is 7:00pm at the Sandman Centre
