Treasury Board next step for new tower at Royal Inland

KAMLOOPS —  The case for the new Surgical patient tower at Royal Inland Hospital is now set to go to Treasury Board for the next round of vetting.

The business case has been approved by Interior Health, and the Regional Hospital District has confirmed its committment to the project. Now, says Health Minister Terry Lake, it’s on to the province for more study.

He says it’s an expensive project and all the “i’s” need to be dotted and the “t’s” crossed before it goes further.

“We’re looking at over 400 million dollars (for the tower)”, says Lake, “and that will be cost shared by the Regional Hospital  District and the Province. But the ultimate dollar numbers will be determined first by Treasury Board, and then of course when you go out for RFP (Request for Proposals) that’s when you get the real numbers, because the bidding will begin.”
