KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue crews were called to a house fire in Aberdeen Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported at 2147 Holyrood Circle, just after 9:00 a.m.

Platoon Captain Jeff Bell says first responding firefighters reported light smoke rising from the building’s roof.

“Crews arrived on scene and there was some light smoke,” said Bell. “Under investigation they found that there was a fire in the kitchen. Crews made entry and knocked the fire down.”

“All we know at the moment is the origin was in the kitchen, but as to what caused it, we are not sure at the moment.”

Bell says no one was home at the time, and officials are working to contact the homeowners.

“The occupants aren’t going to be able to live in there tonight. They will have to get it cleaned up, but I don’t think there is any major structural damage. The kitchen is pretty much a write-off.”
