KAMLOOPS — A public appeal by Kamloops RCMP has led to the arrest of a robbery suspect.

A 48 year old man was picked up last Thursday, and is charged in the knifepoint robbery of the North Shore Safeway gas bar two days earlier.

Corporal Jodi Shelkie says police found him with the help of a member of the public who saw a surveillance photo and heard the suspect's description.

Shelkie says this was a case where the public pitched in after seeing the information in local media.

"It's always great when we have concerned citizens who call us with information. In this case it was in response to the photo that we sent out, and they were able to identify the suspect," explained Cpl. Shelkie.

The man was expected to appear in court today.

Shelkie says he is previously known to police.
