KAMLOOPS — At 12 years old, soccer player Wil Calne is two years younger than most players picked in hockey’s Western League bantam draft.

Despite his age, he’s been chosen to attend the Vancouver Whitecaps pre-residency program — a professional preparation program designed to give him the best instruction and training opportunities available.

It’s a first for a Kamloops athlete.
