KAMLOOPS – A garage was destroyed in an early morning fire in Barnhartvale, but the adjacent home was spared and noone was hurt.
KFR’s Steve Kilmartin says they were called to the home at 6108 Meadowland Crescent north just before midnight.
When they arrived, the garage was fully involved.
Initial efforts went into saving the home, which was located about 5 feet away from the detached garage.
Kilmartin says they were able to knock down the fire fairly quickly, but the garage and its contents were destroyed.
The home suffered little damage, and the homeowners, who were home at the time, were uninjured.
Kilmartin says passersby actually noticed the blaze and alerted the residents.
Someone also hooked up to a trailer outside the garage and pulled it out of danger.
No indication of a cause at this point.
Fire inspectors will be at the scene later this morning.
