April 1st means ‘butt-out’

KAMLOOPS — Beginning Friday, smokers looking to light-up in a city park, will be told to butt-out.

As of April 1st, smoking will be illegal in all parks within the City of Kamloops, as well as on city properties. The bylaw prohibits both smoking and electronic cigarette’s. Rather than handing out tickets, city officials plan to focus on educating the public about the new regulations. Several communites across the province have made public spaces smoke-free, and Kamloops wants to provide the healthiest environment for people enjoying civic property.
