Hockey Canada to name World Women’s roster Monday in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Hockey Canada will name its team next Monday for the upcoming IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championship.

The naming of the 23-player team will take place at Pacific Way Elementary in Kamloops.

Last month Hockey Canada held a 32-player training camp.

The lineup will look somewhat different from the one that won the gold medal at the Four Nations Cup in Kamloops fifteen months ago and played at the World Championships last spring.

Veterans Gillian Apps, Jayna Hefford and Catherine Ward have retired.

Veterans Hayley Wickenheiser and 2010 Olympic MVP Meghan Agosta who did’nt play last season, are virtual shoe ins to be on the 23-player team to be named Monday in Kamloops.

There is also expected to be some turnover from last years team.
