VERNON, B.C. — Tourism is showing big gains in B.C., and that’s especially been the case at Silver Star Mountain Resort.

Marketing director Eric Erik Kalacis says they’re having one of their busiest seasons in recent memory, mostly a result of great snow conditions.

He says visitors from the U-S are showing the biggest increases.

“They are up just over 30%, and that’s due to the favourable exchange rate. Our Ontario visitation is up as well. All of the growth is definitely due to the fantastic snow conditions that we have,” Kalacis tells Kiss FM.

He says the resort has received 620 centimetres of snow so fair this season.

“That’s more than six metres,” exclaims Kalacis.

“Out last day of skiing operations is going to be April 3. I’m confident to say, we’ve got amazing conditions and we’re going to have excellent skiing here, full coverage, right to the end of the season,” says Kalacis.

B.C.government stats indicate almost 5 million international visitors came to the province last year, up 7.9% percent from the previous year.

The biggest increase was from people from France, up 32%.
