KAMLOOPS — Before many people in Kamloops issued an opinion on the proposed KGHM-Ajax copper-gold mine, they said they wanted to wait for the facts.

Now, the facts are in.

The Environmental Assessment Office has received the full Ajax application, and has made it available on its website here.

KGHM-Ajax itself has pledged to have plain language summaries available on its website as soon as Tuesday.

Now that the information is public, it begins a 180-day review period, though that clock can be stopped at any time if the EAO asks for more information from the company.

A 75-day public comment period has also begun, and the company is promising several open houses.

External Affairs Manager Yves Lacasse says KGHM-Ajax hopes the EAO hands down a decision before the end of 2016.
