WolfPack Back Into Win Column In Men’s Basketball

EDMONTON, AB—Chalk up another victory for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s basketball team.

The WolfPack kicked off a two game weekend in Edmonton by taking the host MacEwan University Griffins 86-71 in Canada West play on Friday (Jan 15).

The victory gives TRU a record of 9-2 while MacEwan falls to 5-6.

The WolfPack led 20-12 after the first quarter and held a 47-27 lead at the half.  MacEwan outscored TRU 25-19 in the third quarter and cut the deficit to 66-46.

Reese Pribilsky (5th year, guard, Victoria, BC) had 17 points and 10 assists for TRU who had 20 points and 11 rebounds from Canada West third star of the week Volodymyr Iegorov (4th year, forward, Dontesk, Ukraine).

Josh Wolfram (5th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) had 19 points.

MacEwan had three players in double figures led by Keith Gerdes with 16 points. Chris Mooney added 13 assists while Harrison Lane added 11.

The teams will go at it again Saturday (Jan 16) in Edmonton.

The WolfPack will return home for their first game of the 2016 calendar year when they entertain the Mount Royal Cougars on Friday, January 22nd at the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre.  Tip off will be 8 pm.
