Blazers defeat Kootenay Ice 5-1 at home

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers (12-9-3-0) had five different goal scorers in a 5-2 win over the Kootenay Ice (6-20-2-0). 

Matt Revel scored the game’s first goal 6:54 into the game. He took a pass from Gage Quinney and his shot deflected in for a 1-0 lead.

Matt Needham made it 2-0 only 41 seconds later as he picked up a puck off the rush and slid a backhand in.

The Blazers had plenty of chances in the first period and outshot the Ice 15-10.

Cale Fleury gave the Ice life as he scored 13 seconds into the second period on a rush to cut the Blazers lead to 2-1. 

The Blazers got a big goal from Gage Quinneywhile shorthanded midway through the period.Deven Sideroff created the turnover and Quinney made a great move 1-on-1 for his 12th goal of the season. 

Ryan Rehill added a power play marker with 1:15left in the period to give the Blazers a 4-1 lead through two periods. 

In the third period, Matt Needham added a power play goal as the Blazers went on to win 5-1. 

The line of Spencer Bast, Garrett Pilon and Jermaine Loewen didn’t score, but had a solid night spending most of it in the offensive zone. 

Gage Quinney, Matt Needham and Deven Sideroffall had three-point nights. Quinney had a goal and two assists, Needham had two goals and an assist and Sideroff had three assists. 

Connor Ingram was good when tested as he made 25 saves for the win. 

The Blazers finished 2-for-7 on the power play, and were 2-for-3 on the penalty kill. 

The Blazers are home again this weekend as they host the Portland Winterhawks on Friday, December 4th and the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday, December 5th.
